It is also called a stone vegetable and mountain-cloud mud which originated in the nine peak mountain.

Old records wrote: Tiancai looks like black fungus and can be found between rocks after showers in the summer. In reality, it grows a day or two after the rain all year-round.

Today there are still old mountain farmers who pick it to add into fish dishes.
