The 17th Sheshan Bamboo Shoots Culture Festival is to kick off in Sheshan National Forest Park on March 30, offering tourists a chance to enjoy spring bamboo shoots.

Since 2002, the bamboo shoots cultural festival has become a regular spring event for Shanghai residents, with its popularity growing year on year.

Sheshan will launch a series of outdoor activities for visitors to dig up and sample bamboo shoots, enjoy bamboo dancing and learn more about bamboo crafts.

Tianma Mountain Garden is the best place to dig up bamboo shoots. Visitors can buy tickets at the garden's designated outlet and participate in the themed event to dig up and sample bamboo shoots for an hour. The number of people is limited to 50 each time, with two sessions every day starting from 10 am and 1.30 pm. The ticket price is 100 yuan ($14.7) per person.
