Chenshan Botanical Garden hosted the fourth "flower arrangements charity event" during this spring, and the staff from the garden donated the funds raised to an impoverished student on June 8, 2012.
The Chenshan Botanical Garden has hosted the flower arrangement charity event four times and has collected 1,000 yuan ($ 157) in total. With the help of the Songjiang neighborhood office, the garden staff were able to get in touch with a girl named Fan Jiaqi who lives in the Tongbo district. The staff paid her a visit and donated the funds to the ill and underprivileged girl.
Fan Jiaqi is currently a first grade student in primary school and has suffered from an illness for over six months. She has been transferred from hospital to hospital for better treatment.
Her father, a driver, currently supports the family, as Fan's mother had to quit her job to take care of her daughter. Despite the usual household expenses, the family still had to bear the burden of expensive hospital bills.
The donation from the Chenshan Botanical Garden was like music to ears of the family and Fan and her parents were more than delighted to finally meet the staff who raised the funds for them. Chenshan Botanical Garden is going to organize more charity events to help people in need and continue to make positive contributions to the community.
