Eight Scenes in Yan and Wu is a silk scroll, 6.1cm high and 24.8 wide. It has 8vo and the preface and postscript have 2vo as the total size is 10vo.
The painting was created in the 24th year of Emperor Wanli's reign in the Ming Dynasty (AD 1596). In the painting, the painter outlined a few cliffs with ink and the waters and skies merge with one color. The painter particularly drew no sails in the painting, to leave a room for the viewer’s imagination.
