Wilhelm Gruissem, a professor at Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zurich visited Chenshan Botanical Garden in Shanghai on July 5.
Zhang Peng, a researcher at the Shanghai Chenshan Plant Science Research Center, invitedGruissem to visit Chenshan Botanical Garden from July 3 to 6.
ETH Zurich, founded in 1855, is one of the leading international universities for technology and natural sciences.
During the visit, the professor delivered a speech titled "Improved cassava by genetic engineering and the nutritional quality and the disease resistance of rice". Ma Jinshuang, deputy director of SCPSR and a scientific researcher in molecular biology, listened to the lecture and participated in academic exchange with the foreign expert. The beautiful environment of Chenshan Botanical Garden impressed Gruissen after also visiting Quarry Garden, Aquatic Garden and Conservatory.
