The Playa Maya Water Park will welcome its first visitors in the summer of 2013. Many promotion plans in anticipation for the park's opening are underway.

Shanghai Happy Valley came to the Sheshan National Tourist Resort in 2009 and over the past three years has become a new landmark for Yangtze River Delta tourism. The Shanghai OCT Group, a Chinese enterprise who has built several theme parks, including Shanghai Happy Valley, is expanding with its latest project, the Playa Maya Water Park, expected to open in the summer of 2013.

To promote the new park, the planning department of OCT is paying great attention to publicity. They are opening more exhibition stands during the carnival season in Happy Valley, which will include consulting, water park model guides and water park market surveys.

Some on-site staff will also be on hand to answer questions from tourists. To highlight the beach attractions, a sea-wave style photo studio will be placed around the exhibition stand, encouraging visitors to stop and take pictures.

The Playa Maya Water Park is located in the southwest part of Shanghai Happy Valley, covering a total area of 120,000 meters. With an investment of 500 million yuan ($78.6 million), it is the largest outdoor water park in eastern China. Once finished, it will operate as an independent water park in the summer. During other seasons, it will serve as a scenic spot in Happy Valley.
