Jiang Kai and two other research assistants from Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden have won the 2013 BGCI-KFBG Travel Scholarship, sponsored by Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG). They will go to Hong Kong to receive training at KFBG from Jan 21 to Feb 2, 2013.

BGCI and KFBG started providing funds for botanic garden staff in the mainland and Hong Kong in 2003. It aims at strengthening work relations between botanic gardens. Trainees from different botanic gardens will receive two or three weeks training in Hong Kong. The program not only helps improve ability in popular science and garden management, but also promotes botanic garden cooperation in plant protection.

Six mainland staff won the scholarship to go to Hong Kong for a short-term exchange program in 2013. The theme of the training program will be genetics. It will lay a solid foundation for cooperation between Chenshan and KFBG in the future.
