Recently, nearly 1.5 hectares of pink Phlox have been in full bloom in Chenshan Botanical Garden, a spectacular feast for visitors.
Phlox, originally found in southern parts of North America, are a kind of plant classified under the family Polemoniaceae. They are short and dense, and the five-petal flower can cover the whole limb when blossoming. Its leaves are green in spring, summer and autumn, and mahogany in winter. Phlox are wonderful ground cover plants with high ornamental value.
The total planting area of Phlox in Chenshan amounts to 2 hectares. The best time to appreciate the flowers is toward the end of April, when all four kinds of Phlox -- namely pink, purple, white and red -- will be in full bloom.
