The Green Theater in Chenshan Botanical Garden, Shanghai, which has successfully hosted the Chenshan Grassland Concert twice, leaves a deep impression on most audiences. But the drawback is that the site is relatively flat; the rear view is obstructed because of this.
In order to resolve the issue, Chenshan Botanical Garden launched the Green Theater renovation project in early November 2013. The project was successfully completed after 2.5 months.
The Green Theater, covering 12,000 square meters, is a key project in the transformation of Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden. During the renovation process, gardeners in Chenshan Botanical Garden completed the clearance, earthwork, modeling, irrigation, drainage, soil improvement, planting and maintenance of turf and more.
In pursuit of perfection, each aspect has been monitored closely. Modeling and consolidation, irrigation and drainage, soil improvement and many other problems have been tackled.
After the transformation, the Green Theater will have inclined seating. The entire theater will have a fan-shaped auditorium and a proscenium stage inspired by ancient Greek theater. It will be a three-dimensional open-air theater that can accommodate more than 6,000 spectators.
The theater is expected to go into use in April this year.
