Tianma Circuit in Sheshan, Shanghai was completed in 2002 and was formally put into operation in 2003. Since it owns FIA (International Automobile Federation) certified tracks, it is compulsory for Tianma Circuit to take a track inspection by FIA officials every three-years.

On April 8, an FIA official came to Tianma Circuit and carefully examined each barrier wall, deceleration zone, and buffer zone. He also raised his concerns on some of the track repairs. He hoped that Tianman Circuit could improve its facilities to ensure racing security.

The FIA was founded in 1904. It is a non-profit international organization dedicated to the coordination of international automobile and motorcycle organizations and to help motorists around the world solve problems as well as to co-ordinate a variety of automotive and motorcycle races. Its members include 213 organizations in 125 countries.
