During the Qingming holiday from April 5 to 7, Chenshan Botanical Garden's Second Shanghai International Orchid Show attracted nearly 90,000 visitors, double over the numbers witnessed last year.
On Qingming day itself, the 10 am admission set off a first wave of visitors. In the afternoon, visitors who had returned from tomb sweeping merged into a second peak. Even at 3.30 pm, people were still swarming in. To cope with the large visitor flows, an adequate contingency plan ensured that visitors were able to enjoy the flowers in an orderly manner. Despite visitors crowding to various attractions for photos, they appreciated the flowers under the guidance of staff.
Chenshan Botanical Garden opened four years ago, but it has already twice held the Shanghai International Orchid Show and broken single-day visitor records four times. Based on the successful model of cross-border cooperation in greening, tourism, media, government and other sectors when staging the first Shanghai International Orchid Show.
This time, the show implemented more mature experience from abroad and explored the development of other business models. In the future, Chenshan Botanical Garden will also get more social sectors to participate and create an international brand of the Shanghai flower show.
