Themed "Life with science, innovation fulfills dreams", the 2014 Shanghai Science and Technology Week kicked off on May 17.
During the event, a total of 842 pavilions were set up with science popularization activities. Chenshan Botanical Garden's aromatic plants pavilion in the "Light your life" section was particularly eye-catching, and proved to be very popular after receiving over 10,000 visitors over the two-day weekend.
The aromatic plants pavilion welcomed visitors into a scented world. Gardenia, honeysuckle, lavender and other plants provided them with a unique sensory experience. You could also see real plants of rosemary, mint, and lemon balm which are common condiments on Westerners'dinner tables. In addition, the equipment for extracting essential oils was shown and a series of interactive activities were organized to offers visitors a wonderful experience.
In the future, Chenshan Botanical Garden will continue to explore new ways to spread science in the form of innovation in a bid to enhance the popularization of science.
