The Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) Group, the developer of Shanghai Happy Valley and many other theme parks in China, ranked fourth in terms of total visitor volumes among all global theme parks, following the park giants Walt Disney Attractions, Merlin Entertainments Group and the Universal Studios Recreation Group.
The theme parks by the OCT Group received a total of 28 million people in 2014, according to a report released by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) and AECOM in the US analyzing the global theme parks industry.
The report, based on the worldwide visitor attendances, is regarded as the professional ranking list within the theme park industry. The OCT Group has been listed in the top-four theme parks for two consecutive years. The attendance growth in 2014 reached 6.3 percent, higher than the 5.1-percent average growth of the top 10 groups.
The OCT Group is a state-owned enterprise whose business ranges from tourism to real estate development and electronics manufacturing.
