A tulip exhibition series 'Peace and Prosperity – China Tour' debuted in Shanghai at the Chenshan Botanical Garden of the Sheshan Tourist Resort, on Nov 10.
Many visitors gathered in the exhibition greenhouse of the garden to see the new tulip species Guotai, a name given by China's First Lady Peng Liyuan. The name means a prosperous country. The tulips were placed in a pattern of the Chinese characters "国泰民安" (Guo Tai Min An), which symbolizes peace and prosperity.
The exhibition series, collectively organized by the China Flower Association, Sohu, Beijing Bixi Flower Company, and Boskey cycle studio, started its tour on Oct 1 and will close on New Year's Day. It runs through more than 20 provinces and cities, with a straight-line distance of 5,392 kilometers.
Thousands of cycling enthusiasts from Northeast China's Heilongjiang province are riding to Southwest China's Guangxi province, carrying tulip seeds with them. Every time they arrive in a city, they plant tulips in the local botanical garden as a blessing for the country 's peace and prosperity.
