Mountain climbing on New Year's Day

The Sheshan National Tourist Resort in Shanghai Songjiang District will host a climbing activity with the theme "Body Relax & Healthy Run" on New Year’s Day, 2016, to promote both a healthy lifestyle and the district's tourism brand.

The climb will begin at 10 a.m. and last for an hour and a half. Participants with entry forms can take a bus from Metro Line 9 Sheshan Station to Shanghai Happy Valley from 8.30 a.m. to 9.45 a.m. The bus will also be available for a return trip before noon. Self-driving visitors with online parking permits can park their cars at the underground garage of Happy Valley for free before 12 p.m.

Climbers should take part in a launching ceremony at the Happy Valley gate to warm up before the climb begins. Everyone will be given a red vest, a silk ribbon and a label.

The event organizer will also take registrations for lucky draws to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the New Year's Day climb. Ten lucky people will receive a tourism package at the launching ceremony.

The registration work will start at 10 a.m. on Dec 16. People from 8 to 65 without cardiovascular disease can fill in the registration form at the Songjiang tourism website. The organizer will buy life insurance for all the participants. Foreigners should show their passport numbers for identity checks. The climb is limited to 5,000 people.
