The "Love & No Boundaries" charity run got underway at Sheshan Mountain on April 16 generating 220,000 yuan ($34,000) for children and families affected by major diseases.
Organized by Keppel Land China, the Sheshan government and Shanghai Charity Foundation, the charity run attracted about 500 participants taking part in a 3-kilometer family run and a 10-km trail run.
Twenty minutes after the start, the heavens opened as rain poured down suspending the rest of the run. Despite the unfortunate act of nature, the charity run still raised 220,000 yuan that will later be given to Shanghai Charity Foundation's "Blooming Flower" fund to help children and families affected by major diseases.
The "Blooming Flower" project fund, set up by Shanghai Charity Foundation, has aided more than 2,200 children with 17 million yuan in total so far raised.
