Fun for all ages at Playa Maya Water Park

Now summer is starting to sizzle, the Playa Maya Water Park in Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort will officially open to the public on Saturday.

According to the authorities, the water park, which has brought the latest rides from abroad, will appeal to people of all ages, but especially young people and families.

The newly upgraded water park covers an area of nearly 200,000 square meters, and in addition to a number of water rides, it also features the newly constructed Magic Water Town.

The Magic Water Town, covering an area of 30,000 square meters, is hosting a diverse array of fun and entertaining rides for the whole family, such as the water turbo drop, which has been introduced from Canada, a water castle, paddling area and 80 other attractions.

In all, there are five entertainment areas for family interactions, such as the Animal Kingdom, the Secret Places of the Ocean, and the Happy Jungle, as well as more than 100 water games.

The park's entertainment features more than 100 dancers hailing from all over the world who will put on spectacular daily performances. In the evenings, DJs will host "Wild Maya" a live music gala.

The park is currently under trial operation and is open from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm every day. A special discount is available with adult tickets priced at 120 yuan ($18), 60 yuan cheaper than the regular price. The family ticket is 300 yuan, which admits two adults and a child under 1.5 meters to the park. From July 2 to Sept 4, the ticket price will return to 180 yuan, with night tickets costing 140 yuan.

Each summer, the Playa Maya Water Park is popular with tourists from home and abroad. Since its opening in 2013, the park has received a total of two million visitors during the two operating months each summer.

Now, the park has been striving to build itself into one of the largest and most exciting water amusement parks in the east China.
