The resort, established in 1995 and covering 64.08 square kilometers, is Shanghai's only natural mountain forest resort.

It is the largest national-level resort in China in terms of total area, offering a range of 12 scenic mountains stretching 13 kilometers from southwest to northeast. The resort is making a name for itself through its excellent combination of traditional Chinese culture, natural landscapes and modern civilization.

It is home to attractions such as the Happy Valley theme park, the Chenshan Botanical Garden and Guangfulin culture, which has more than 4,000 years of history.

The annual World Golf Championships- HSBC Champions tournament has also been held at the resort.

Sheshan has become an ideal gathering place for residents of Shanghai and neighboring cities.

More than 400,000 tourists flocked to the resort during the seven- day National Day vacation this year, despite poor weather conditions.

There are many industry-leading hotels in the resort to offer visitors comfortable accommodations.

Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan Oriental and Le Meridien Sheshan Shanghai are the most popular in the region.

The two hotels are known for their meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibition services, as well as their family-friendly services. There are also various hotels of all price ranges to meet all visitors’ demands.

More tourism and public service facilities will open in the coming years to offer new experiences to visitors. For example, construction on the Shimao New Experiences Pit Hotel and the Guangfulin Relic Park is expected to wrap up soon.

The resort is also committed to cultivating and expanding awareness of its big events, which have been organized across different seasons so that visitors can explore Sheshan’s year-round, changing beauty.

Cultrual events such as the Chenshan Grassland Music Festival and the Sheshan Summer Carnival have attracted great attention from visitors and boosted public awareness of the resort. Sheshan is promoting a nonmotorized traveling model to better protect the local environment while still allowing visitors to discover the beauty of the region.

The resort developers are considering building three new footpaths along Shenzhuan Road, Longyuan Road and Guangfulin Road, which will allow visitors to travel around Sheshan on foot. These paths will also be extended to the nearby Songjiang University Town to enable more college students to visit.

New bicycle travel routes allowing travelers to cycle along mountain roads will also be developed to give tourists a completely different travel experience while in Sheshan.
