Sheshan National Tourist Resort in Sheshan town, Shanghai's Songjiang district, recently announced a photography competition aimed at showcasing the scenery and features of Sheshan.

Keen on developing its green ecology, the town was recognized this year as China's most beautiful and livable areas. Known for its picturesque landscape, the town is also regarded as a staple site of Songjiang.

The competition, held by Sheshan cultural departments, is expected to increase the national exposure of the town's history, culture and landscape.

Participants are divided into two groups: professional photographers and amateur photographers. They are required to submit works in four categories: natural landscape, human landscape, cultural and historical architecture, and life of locals. Submissions opened on June 29 and will close on July 15.

The works have to be burned onto CDs or stored in USB flash drives and mailed to the organizer.

Twenty winners will be selected from each group and bonuses of up to 5,000 yuan ($737) will be given to each winner.
