Some of the world's top golfers are set to tee-off at the 2017 World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions at Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai's Songjiang district on Oct 26-29.

The HSBC Champions was founded in 2005 and achieved World Golf Championships status in 2009. It is one of Asia's biggest tournaments in terms of prestige, prize money and scale.

Fifteen of the world's top 20 golfers will be taking part in this year's tournament, including current world number one Dustin Johnson, the 2013 US Masters champion Adam Scott, former PGA Championship winner Jason Day and the top three finishers in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and Matt Kuchar.

The 2017 Open champion Brooks Koepka will also be competing for the $9.75 million prize in Shanghai, as will the defending champion Hideki Matsuyama.

This year's tournament will also for the first time see seven Chinese players fighting for the title.

Li Haotong, an up-and-coming 21-year-old, also qualified for the tournament after an excellent season in which he broke into the top 30 on the PGA European Tour.

The other Chinese stars appearing at the HSBC Champions are Dou Zecheng, Zhang Xinjun, Wu ashun, Liang Wenchong, Liu Yanwei and Cao Yi.
