Shanghai Sheshan Tourist Resort is to host its 13th New Year's Day hiking event on Jan 1.
Having been held for twelve consecutive years, the event has developed into one of the most popular festive activities in Songjiang district and a local tradition to ring in the New Year.
It has also spawned an interest in keeping fit and maintaining good health.
For this year's hiking event, participants will also have the chance to make postcards for friends, gain an e-certificate and take part in drawing on T-shirt activities with their families.
In addition, participants will be able to get a souvenir card to commemorate their day of climbing. Visitors can also enjoy discounts for eight scenic spots in Sheshan on New Year's Day, including Shanghai Happy Valley, Cheshan Botanical Garden and Sheshan National Forest Park.
The registration is underway. This year's activity is limited to only 4,800 applicants.

Location: From Shanghai Happy Valley gate to the East Sheshan National Forest Park
Line A: Start from 368 steps on the mountain to Liaowang Tower and end to the gate East Sheshan Mountain.
Line B: Start from 368 steps on the mountain to wooden trestle, outside training area, Liaowang Tower, turn left to the lane and end at the south gate East Sheshan Mountain.
