Glutinous rice cakes, or dagao, are a popular food for the holiday among the Korean ethnic group, mainly living in Yanbian prefecture in Northeast China's Jilin province. Served with honey or sugar, the cakes are delicious and chewy.

The custom of eating eel on the Dragon Boat Festival flourishes in Central China's Hubei province. Eels are probably consumed there simply because they are a seasonal delicacy: fatty and tender, and rich in nutrition.
