The 2019 Air Carnival took to the skies above the Shanghai Sculpture Park from Sept 21 to 24, creating new highs for the resort as it continues to develop unique tourism activities.
The four-day event included sports events, exhibitions and competitions, enjoyed by tens of thousands of visitors. Highlights included a drone race, a canoeing competition, and spectacular flyover shows featuring helicopters, hydroplanes, drones and model airplanes. On the ground, visitors learned about all things aviation across interactive exhibitions.

The first Guangfulin Lantern Fair kicked off in Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, where ancient relics dating back to the Neolithic Age were unearthed, on Oct 11. The lantern fair covers an area of 100,000 square meters and features over 40 large lantern sets. With the help of 3D projection and dance shows, visitors will find themselves lost in a wonderland of lights.

Dream City, the first Smurfs-themed park in the Asia-Pacific region, started trial operations in Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort on Dec 18.
The theme park, jointly developed by Shimao Group and International Merchandising Promotions and Services SA, reproduces the village of the Smurfs, a series of comic characters created and introduced by Belgian comics artist Peyo, also known as Pierre Culliford. Visitors can track the main storyline of the Smurfs and become part of the most classic moments in the popular series.
