A delegation led by Belgian Ambassador to China Jan Hoogmartens visited China's first Smurfs theme park in the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort Nov 6.
Managers of the park welcomed the delegation from Smurfs' home country and showed them around. The delegation tried out a variety of entertainment facilities and praised the Smurf doll show and float parade.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium. The two sides also talked about the possibility of further cooperation.
The Smurfs theme park is about to introduce more Belgian cultural flavors, allowing visitors to enjoy the charms of both Chinese and Belgian cultures, such as comic walls and scenes that can be seen everywhere in the streets and lanes of Brussels, the Belgian capital, and famous Belgian chocolates, waffles, crafts and other specialties.
The Smurfs park in suburban Songjiang district is about an hour's drive from the downtown. Children can explore and play in the mushroom houses and go on rides at the Smurfs Village.
The delegation also included officials from the Consulate of Belgium in Shanghai.
