The fragrance of wintersweet flowers has begun infusing the frigid air at Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden in Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort.
Visitors can now appreciate blooming wintersweet flowers at the botanical garden's Mine Garden and Rock Medicinal Garden.
Wintersweet, a native Chinese flower, has a strong scent and blooms in late winter or early spring before the arrival of new leaves. The flower, along with pine and bamboo, are often referred to in China as the "three friends of winter".
