The Sheshan International Golf Club within the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort hosts the first private golf course built in Shanghai.
The club boasts a world-class championship course and an award-winning clubhouse for its members.
Its 18-hole, 72-par golf course was designed by the renowned Nelson & Haworth and is the only golf course in the city set near a mountain surrounded by a forested hillside.
The golf course, which features 1,000-year-old ginkgo trees, a quarry, gentle hills and Jiangnan style bridges over calm waterways, offers golfing challenges and scenic views at every hole.
The club has hosted the HSBC Champions tournament 15 times since 2005. The tournament, one of the biggest in the world, has featured the likes of famous PGA tour players like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Lee Westwood.
2013 marked the first time the WGC-HSBC Champions became both an official European Tour and US PGA Tour event with an elevated prize purse of $8.5 million. The prize purse for the event has now risen to $10.5 million.
Established in 2004, the Sheshan International Golf Club has received numerous worldwide accolades and awards from the international golf community. Major organizations including Golf Digest, Asia Golf Monthly, and the Asian Golf Association have honored the club with many of their top awards.
Its golf course was named The Best Golf Course in Asia by the Asian Golf Association in 2008 and was ranked 85th in the world in 2020-21 by Golf Digest.
