Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort in Shanghai's Songjiang district was recently designated as a national demonstration base for sports tourism.
The resort entered a list of 47 bases of this kind across China released by the General Administration of Sports and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It is the only one in Shanghai to make the list.
Sheshan is home to a number of high-level sports venues like Sheshan International Golf Club and Shanghai Tianma Circuit, making it popular with professional athletes, sports lovers, as well as fitness enthusiasts.
It hosts various sports activities throughout the year, including major international sports events, as well as some that have proved to be popular every year like marathon and climbing activities.
Known as the "backyard garden of Shanghai," the resort also boasts many popular tourist attractions that are ideal for camping, hiking, and cycling.
