Lan Sun Mountain Villa is a hotel situated at the foot of East Sheshan Mountain within the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort.
Chinese Emperor Kangxi (1654-1722) named the mountain "Lan Sun Shan", which literally means "Orchid Bamboo Shoot Mountain", because the bamboo shoots grown on the mountain have a delicate scent of orchids.
The delicious bamboo shoot dishes at the hotel are a must-try in spring, the season when the hotel serves its Lan Sun Banquet, which features dishes like stir-fried shrimp with bamboo shoots, dry fried bamboo shoots, bamboo shoots chicken soup and braised bamboo shoots.
