Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, where over 10,000 water lilies are in full bloom, is hosting the 2022 Chenshan Water Lily Exhibition, which will last until Sept 20.
The exhibition features more than 300 varieties of water lilies, 10 of which are making their debut at the garden. Among the highlights are some new varieties cultivated in Chenshan and award-winning varieties showcased at the China Flower Expo. Water lily enthusiasts also have the chance to get a closer look at some rare species during the event.
The event includes five exhibition areas and allows visitors to admire exhibits placed within water tanks and ponds across the garden.
Chenshan was named a national center for water lily seed resources in 2020 due to its comprehensive collection of the species. It has been hosting the annual exhibition of water lilies for seven consecutive years.
According to COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control requirements, visitors must undergo body temperature, health code and venue code checks, wear masks, and show a negative nucleic acid test result taken within 72 hours prior to entry. Those with temperatures above 37.3℃, and those who have yellow or red health codes, will be forbidden to enter.
The garden said people have to make online reservations at least one day prior to their planned visit. It is currently open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, and the visitor limit is capped at 50 percent of the maximum capacity.
The Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is a national 4A-level scenic spot. It is located in the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort in Shanghai's Songjiang district and covers an area of 207 hectares, making it the largest botanical garden in East China.
