Pancoat Park in Shanghai, a large-scale outdoor parent-child amusement park, has launched and will be holding various folk activities and interesting games throughout February.
During this month, visitors can experience different folk customs every week and learn about related traditional Chinese culture by participating in interactive activities.
The activities include stilt walking, making dough figurines, dragon dancing, painting gourds, waist-drum dancing, creating paper-cutting works, cuju, which is the ancient form of modern-day football, and mushe, an ancient Chinese game that consists of knocking down pins by rolling a wooden ball.
Last week, several activities have provided immersive experiences for many families. The dragon dance activity was held on the grassy area in the park and groups of 10 people learned how to perform dragon dances. Groups of 15 families experienced paper-cutting activities during 30-minutes classes in the park.
Visitors are able to get a seal if they participate in an activity. People who collect four seals in February can obtain a "Folk Artisan" badge.
Pancoat Park is located inside the Shangahai Yuehu Sculpture Park, a popular tourist attraction in the Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort. There are mountains, a forest and a lake near the park, providing a pleasant ecological environment and natural scenery.
The park integrates leisure, parent-child entertainment, parent-child sports, popular science education and artistic experiences, as well as clothing, food, living, travelling and entertainment businesses.
