The 34th Shanghai Tourism Festival will run from Sept 16 till Oct 6 and feature more than 100 offline activities held across the city, according to the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism.

The festival will showcase Shanghai's charm as a modern metropolis with rich cultural heritage and diverse tourist attractions. It will also offer high-quality cultural and tourism products and services to both local residents and visitors, extending the industry chain and boosting consumption.

Various market players from different sectors will organize a variety of activities such as exhibitions, performances, sports, food festivals and shopping carnivals during the festival period.

A Digital Tourism Festival will also be held to provide new cultural and tourism experiences through online platforms and interactive devices.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the return of the festooned vehicle parade, which has been absent for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parade will feature colorful floats themed on Shanghai's landmarks, culture and tourism resources. The parade will take place in 11 districts in Shanghai during the tourism festival.

The festival will have branch venues in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces to promote regional cooperation and integration in culture and tourism development, as well as showcase the distinctive features and attractions of each province.
