Some early-blooming varieties of plum blossoms planted in the Chenshan Botanical Garden in East China's Shanghai have recently flowered.

As time progresses, more varieties of plum blossoms will gradually blossom. In response, the Chenshan Botanical Garden has released a forecast of the plum blossom flowering period along with a flower-viewing guide, as follows:

  • Up to Feb 5, about 30 percent of the garden's plum blossoms will be in bloom.

  • From Feb 6-15, around 60 percent of the garden's plum blossoms will be in flower.

  • From Feb 16 to March 1, the entire garden's plum blossoms will enter their best viewing period.

Most of the plum blossoms planted in the Chenshan Botanical Garden are of medium-sized varieties, with the best viewing period lasting from 8.5 to 15 days, averaging around 11.1 days.

The duration is mainly influenced by temperature; a rapid increase in temperature after flowering shortens the flowering period, while a consistent temperature of around 10 C prolongs it.

Late-blooming varieties, such as Beauty Plum, typically enter their flowering period in early March, with the best viewing period lasting from 5 to 9.6 days, averaging 7.8 days. Individual plum blossoms last about 7-17 days, varying between different varieties.

The prime locations for plum blossom viewing in the Chenshan Botanical Garden are mainly concentrated on the west side after the first gate, passing through the Begonia Garden and reaching the Plum Garden, Plum Blossom Slope and Lakeside Plum Blossom Garden.

These three areas complement each other, forming a special landscape known as the "Three Acts of Plum Blossoms".
