The 2024 Shanghai Half Marathon will gun off on April 21 at the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Pudong New Area. Registration for the competition started on March 11.
Compared to the first edition in 2015, the number of participants this year has increased from 5,000 to 15,000.
With a total distance of 21.0975 kilometers, this year's route covers scenic spots, including the Lujiazui area, the 2010 World Expo site and the New Bund (Qiantan Area), ending at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center on Yongyao Road.
After last year's race, the Shanghai Half Marathon was awarded the Gold Label Road Race by the World Athletics, making Shanghai the only city in the world, apart from Valencia, Brazil, to have both a Platinum Label Road Race - Shanghai Marathon - and a Gold Label Road Race.
Runners can log into the official website of the Shanghai Marathon before 4 pm on March 14 to register. The registration fee for regular runners is 160 yuan ($22.3) per person and 1,500 for charity runners.
The draw results will be announced on March 22, and the registration fees should be paid before 3 pm on March 25 after the announcement of the results. Failure to make payment before the deadline will be deemed as a withdrawal.
